Mastercard Foundation Scholars at KNUST present on their community engagement Projects

Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST held its annual debriefing program on Wednesday and Thursday 7th and 8th of January 2025. The event, which took place among Scholars from Cohorts 8, 9, and 10. The program focused on assessing and reviewing the transformative projects executed under the Community Engagement and Mentorship Program (CEMP).

The debriefing provided an opportunity for Scholars to share insights, challenges, and milestones achieved during their innovative projects, which are aimed at addressing pressing societal issues across Ghana. These projects represent a wide spectrum of initiatives in areas such as education, health, environmental conservation, and community development.

The interactive sessions allowed Scholars to reflect critically on their work and explore extensive avenues for learning and growth. Staff members guided the discussions, offered constructive feedback and proffered best practices for community engagement and project sustainability.

One Cohort 8 Scholar noted, “This debriefing has been invaluable in helping us identify areas for improvement and helped us appreciate the impact our projects have had on the lives of people in our communities, and how we can do better”

Jennifer’s Focus: Empowering Girls through Life Skills 

The Program Manager commended the Scholars for their commitment to driving change and encouraged them to continue using innovative approaches to tackle challenges in their communities. She emphasized that the Scholars work under Community Engagement and Mentorship Program (CEMP) embodies the Program’s mission of empowering young leaders to be agents of transformative change and reiterated the resources available to them.

Christella’s Vision: Enhancing Psychosocial Support 

As the two-day event concluded, the staff reiterated the importance of these debriefing engagements in ensuring accountability, collaboration, and innovation among Scholars. Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST remains committed to creating a lasting impact through its community-focused initiatives.
